Faisalabad: January 21, 2016. (PCP) In a letter to Mr. Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan Ref, No. PMTA/01/16, dated January 21, 2016 Professor Anjum James Paul Chairman Pakistan Minorities Teachers’ Association (PMTA) has requested to counter hate speech and extremist material after terrorist attack on Bacha Khan University Charsadda. The content of the letter is below. To Mr. Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Prime Minister of Pakistan Prime Minister’s Secretariat Islamabad Subject:: COUNTERING HATE SPEECH AND EXTREMIST MATERIAL AFTER TERRORIST ATTACK ON BACHA KHAN UNIVERSITY CHARSADDA Honourable Sir, Greetings and peace from Pakistan Minorities Teachers’ Association (PMTA). PMTA would like to draw your kind attention on the subject cited above. Pakistan Minorities Teachers’ Association condemns the terrorist attack on Bacha Khan University Charsadda which has claimed the lives of 20 innocents yesterday on January 20, 2016. Pakistani nation had not yet recovered from the tragic incident of Army Public School Peshawar and this incident took place. The government must take immediate steps to root out extremism as 61 innocent Pakistanis have lost their lives by the terrorists only in first 20 days of year 2016. It is so sorry that present Pakistani curriculum and textbooks promote extremism against humanity and human rights but no heed has been paid so far. PMTA has already identified such material and sent to your good office. National Action Plan (NAP) has not been successful to achieve her goals because government has failed to change the mindsets as curriculum and textbooks have not been changed. Hate speech and extremist material can only promote hate and extremism in the mindsets of the innocent students. NAP must be active in this regard with letter and spirit. Sir, curriculum and textbooks are attacking the integrity of Pakistan so it is requested you to kindly change curriculum and textbooks to save Pakistan and Pakistani nation. With best regards. PROF. ANJUM JAMES PAUL CHAIRMAN
