Faisalabad: February 1, 2016. (PCP) Pakistan Minorities Teachers’ Association has prepared a documentary “When will our daughter be returned to us?” on the abduction, forced conversions to Islam and forced marriages in Pakistan.
Professor Anjum James Paul, Chairman Pakistan Minorities Teachers’ Association (PMTA) has demanded the government of Pakistan to return the stolen daughter of Shahid John and all Christian and Hindu daughters to their parents who have been abducted, forcibly converted and married. He said that Christian and Hindu girls are leaving education because they are not in safe environment regarding their protection of lives and beliefs. Sana’s twin sister Hina has also left school as she is in fear. The state is biased against the protection of their beliefs. Police treats differently when there is forced marriage of any Christian or a Hindu girl. Pakistani electronic and print media is also biased and it does not report such cases perhaps due to the policy of the state not to highlight such cases to show that minorities are safe in Pakistan.
Professor Anjum Paul continued saying that PMTA has taken the matter to the Chief Justice Supreme Court of Pakistan on November 16, 2015, The matter has also brought in the kind notice of Prime Minister of Pakistan, Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Chief Minister Punjab and Director National Commission for Human Rights, Government of Pakistan but it is so sorry that 86 days have passed of the abduction, forced conversion and forced marriage of Sana but no heed has been paid on her recovery. We request the government of Pakistan to protect the non-Muslims. They daily live and die due to persecution on the basis of religion.
The content of the documentary contains on the documents regarding Sana Shahid and interviews of her family members regarding her abduction, forced conversion and forced marriage.
Pakistan has become the worst and the most insecure country for the underage non-Muslim girls and women in the world where hundreds of Christian and Hindu girls and women are abducted/ kidnapped , forcibly converted to Islam and forcibly married.
Hundreds of Pakistani Christians and Hindus are forced to leave their country to save their beliefs, lives and daughters as they have to face discriminatory attitudes. They do not get justice even from the courts.
The most recent prey of this discrimination is Sana Shahid, a 13 years old grade five student of Rodes Road, Miyanapura Sialkot who was abducted, forcibly converted to Islam and forcibly married to Waheed Akhter son of Muhammad Bashir of the same residential area on November 9, 2015 while she was going to her school. Her forced marriage is the violation of Child Restraint Marriage Act 1929 of the land law of Pakistan.
According to the Birth Registration Certificate, Government of Punjab, Pakistan, Sana Shahid was born on April 17, 2002. There is the same record according to the Catholic Church Birth Certificate and her School Leaving Certificate but it is so sorry that on the marriage certificate she is adult and of 18 years of age.
Perhaps, Pakistan is the only country in the world where age of Christian and Hindu girls is increased on the basis of belief to prey them.
Sana’s daddy is crying in the wilderness, “When will our daughter be returned to us.”
Hina Shahid, Sana’s twin sister
We were going to school at 8:00 am. A boy, whose name is “Rambo” was standing on our way. He held the arm of my sister Sana and said to her, “Listen to me.” My sister said, “No, we have to go to school.” He then reprimanded me saying. “You go to school and I shall leave her in your house.”
I went to school while weeping. When I came back home after school, I could not find my sister at home. I told my mother that their son took away her, holding from her arms.
I remember my class fellows and my teachers. I want to go to school but I am scared so that they may not also kidnap me.
We always stayed together. Both of us loved each other.
Noshi Begum, Sana’s mother
They went to school after preparation and breakfast. She said to me, “Mama, I am going to school.” I said, “Carefully, go to school.” She said, “Okay, Mama, I shall carefully go to school.” She did not come back.
After coming back from school my younger daughter asked me, “Mama, has Sana come home?” I said, “No”.
I then went to their house but they did not open the door and said that everything would be told you by evening.
The door was opened when we again went to their house. We searched the house and they said, “Our parents are not at home and they have gone out.”
We again went to their house in the evening and they said, “Search our house.” We searched all. They said, “She is not in the house.”
Shahid John, Sana’s Father
I went for work at 7:45 am on November 9. My both of the daughters, Sana and Hina went to the government primary school. I loved her much but…..
Amir Gill, Sana’s uncle
My brother came home and said, “Someone has kidnapped Sana.” She went to school and has not yet returned home. I asked my brother about the logging of the First Information Report (FIR) in the Police Station. He said, “No”. Then we went to the Police Station for logging of the FIR.
Sana is only 13 years of age.
We want our daughter back. Justice must be provided to her of the cruelty she is passing through.
Many days have passed, when will our daughter be returned to us?
