Lahore: February 26, 2016. (Fr. Inayat Bernard) “I feel honored to be at St. Mary’s Seminary chapel to join the Catholic Seminarians for Bible reading during Lent 2016”. Rev. Shahid Mairaj; Dean of the Cathedral of the Resurrection was talking to the fasting students of the seminary at the end of their daily Lenten Bible reading. He said that Jesus the light of the world and the life which is given to all humanity. I have learnt a lot from this Bible reading because it is the Word of God and it guides whenever we read it.
Presbyterian Church pastor Rev. Amjad Niamat expressed his joy to be part of Lent Bible reading. He said that it was a moment of grace for him to be among the future priests of the Archdiocese of Lahore. He said that it was satisfying that his son Isaac was also present for this moment whom, he informed, has dedicated to the service of God when he grows up.
At the end of the Bible reading for the New Testament Fr. Inayat Bernard, Rector of St. Mary’s Seminary, said that our fast is composed of Fast, Prayer and Almsgiving. The students are appreciated to fast daily. Option is given on all days accept every Lent Friday when they come together at lunch time for spiritual food by reading the New Testament. He said that last year the savings from the Lent observance was given to the Catholic TV for the work of evangelization while this year 2016 the poor students have been chosen for our financial help for their fee and books.
In addition he said that every days’ reading is dedicated to one of the 27 students and their entire family members. The staff members, the domestic staff and the blasphemy victims will also be included for dedication of the lent bible reading.
