Lahore: March 13, 2016. (PCP) Peace Activists begin Rwadari Caravan from Lahore to Sindh to pledge their unity and continuation of their struggle and to raise voice against religious intolerance, extremism and terrorism prevailing in the country and to demand from the Government for appropriate actions to counter the situation.
The inauguration Ceremony which was held on 13 March 2016 at Lahore Press Club was participated by peace activists of different religious backgrounds and different walks of life from Punjab, KP, FATA, Sindh and Baluchistan.
The Ceremony was addressed by Mr. Samson Salamat (Chairman Rwadari Tehreek), Mr. Umar Farooq (Central General Secretary, Rwadari Tehreek KPK), Lala Akbar Khan (Rwadari Tehreek KPK), Ms. Sabira Asmat (President of Rwadari Tehreek Punjab), Pastor Shahid Miraj (Vicar General, Church of Pakistan Cathedral), Mufti Aqeel Pirzada (Chairman Ulema Aman Committee), Pandit Bhaghat Lal Kohkar (Pandit Balmik Mandhir), Baba Shafique Dogar (Member Executive Committee Rwadari Tehreek), Ms. Sadia Sohail Raana MPA (PTI), Mr. Salman Abid (Member Executive Council Rwadari Tehreek & Regional Head of SPO), Mr. Sohail Ahmed Raza (Director Interfaith Minhaj-ul-Quran).
In his briefing about Rwadari Caravan Mr. Samson Salamat, the Chairman of Rwadari Tehreek said that Rwadari Caravan will leave from Lahore for North Sindh on the 14th March and shall have reception ceremonies in different cities including Okara, Sahiwal, Cheechawatni, Khanewal, Multan, Lodhran, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Mirpur Matehlo, Ghotki and Sukkur. Upon Arrival in Sukkur, members of Rwadari Tehreek shall gather in thousands and shall hold Rwadari Rally and a Mega Rwadari Festival on the 17th of March 2016.
Mr. Samson Salamat, added that as a nation we cannot tolerate more unrest and violence in the name of religion and therefore in order to counter this situation the members of Rwadari Tehreek have started this Rwadari Caravan to mobilize people to stand united against all those who are spreading hate and intolerance and are killing innocent people. We are also reminding the government and other stake-holders about their responsibilities and asking for appropriate action against the terrorist outfits, their facilitators and financiers who have killed thousands of our innocent brothers, sisters, and children.
Mr. Umar Farooq, the General Secretary of Rwadari Tehreek appreciated all the members of Rwadari Caravan for their efforts for making Pakistan a peaceful place for every citizen without any discrimination. Mr. Umar Farooq said that Government needs to concentrate more seriously on the implementation of National Action Plan for our secure future. As an immediate step, all types of hate material should be confiscated and all those involved in any type of hate speech should be apprehended. Mr. Umar Farooq added that syllabus needs to be reformed and the chapters should be included which promote interfaith harmony and respect of humanity. Moreover Government needs to formulate a policy to de-weaponize the society to end gun and bomb culture.
Mufti Aqeel Peerzada, appreciated the members of Rwadari Caravan for their efforts for a peaceful Pakistan and said that Pakistani society cannot progress without a peaceful environment, and therefore all those who are destroying it should be apprehended and dealt according to the law. Mufti Aqeel Peerzada appealed to the citizens to stand united against all types of extremism and terrorism.
After the Inauguration Ceremony, the members of Rwadari Caravan staged a Rally in front of Lahore Press Club and chanted slogans in favour Peace and denounced all types of extremism, hatred and violence.
