Karachi: April 10, 2016. (PCP) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC has demanded Chief Minister of Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif to take notice of a school “Siddeeq Public School in Satellite Town Rawalpindi” on denial of admission to Christian students which is hate crime on religion grounds which Pakistan Armed Forces, Government of Pakistan and all Muslim political parties of Pakistan agreed to eliminate in National Action Plan NAP agenda of “Zarb-e-Azab” against terrorism in Pakistan.
Dr. Bhatti said “To deny admission in any educational institution on religion ground is act of terrorism and it is duty of Punjab government and Armed Forces of Pakistan to take immediate action against Siddeeq Public School and cancel its registration if government of Pakistan is serious to end terrorism in Pakistan”
According to PotDrum website, on March 11, 2016, one Christian woman named Sonia Gill went to seek admission for her nephew in Siddeeq Public School but when admin office knew that child is “Christian” the admission was denied with comments “Christian students are not allowed in this school”.
Sonia Gill expresses such hate on religion in said school as “I just need a few seconds of your time to read this and please share it if you think I am right! On March 11, 2016, was the most unexpected day of my life. I went to Siddeeq Public School located in Satellite Town, Rawalpindi for the admission of my seven-year-old nephew. I inquired the person sitting at the reception about the admission procedure, but the first question he asked me was, “ARE YOU PEOPLE CHRISTIAN”? I proudly replied yes we are Christian. The next words that followed out of his mouth just baffled me. The school representative bluntly said out loud that we are sorry, but we do not give admissions to Christian children. He did not even once see the innocence on the face of the seven-year-old child who is here just to learn and equally contribute to the success of the society. I furiously replied, is this what you are teaching your students? This is religious discrimination, which can never be healthy for any society. I told him that your refusal did not matter any further. I would never enroll my nephew in a school that propagates hatred. Quaid-e-Azam believed that all Pakistanis were equal irrespective of religion or caste. He said to the minorities, ‘You are free to go to your temples; you are free to go to any place of worship in the state of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion or caste, but we all are equal citizens of the state. IS THIS INDEPENDENCE? IS THIS THE PAKISTAN OF OUR QUAID? I was brought up in a Muslim country, graduated reading Islamiyat and learned Arabic my entire life. However, I was never taught religious discrimination – then why now such schools are teaching our future generation such wrongful things. Instead of developing our country, unfortunately, we all are fighting each other’s religion. It is not about Christians, Muslims, Hindus or any other religious race but it is about the goodness of our children. Do we really want our children to be in such schools? Today, I Sonia Gill Being a Pakistani condemns the hatred and religious discrimination incited by SIDDEEQ PUBLIC SCHOOL. Furthermore, I ask all the Pakistanis belonging to any respectable religion to share this post just for the benefit of our future generations. Please spread the word if you think I am right.
Nazir Bhatti said that there are hundreds of Christian or missionary schools in Pakistan where admission is never denied to any Muslim or Hindu but denial of Christian student in a Muslim school is unjust and can spread more hate in society of Pakistan.
“Already Christian students are facing hate in thousands of government run schools where they are prohibited to drink water in glass which is used by Muslim students and there are incidents where Christian girls are prohibited to use washrooms even which used by Muslim girls but to get education the Christian students not complain of such hate on religion but to deny admission is worst shape of hate and source of terrorism in Pakistan” added PCC Chief
Nazir Bhatti appealed to Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif, Education Minister Punjab Rana Mashood and Federal Secretary Education to take action against Siddeeq Public School and cancel its registration to close it because it falls in Hate Crime which is component of Zarb-e-Azab and NAP.
