PCC condemn Punjab government on acquiring St. Paul Church land for Orange Train project

Karachi: May 6, 2016. (PCP) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC has rejected Handout issued by Punjab Government on demolition of Church properties for Orange Line Train Project in Lahore in a statement issued here today from Central Secretariat of PCC. The Handout (A) # 880/Suhall/Umer, issued on May 4, 2016 by Directorate General Public Relations by Government of Punjab, Lahore, clearly admits that 18 Marla of Church land and 18 Meters of Boundary wall of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church near Bohar Chowk will be utilized for stairways of Orange Line Train Project Station which will be not given back to Church nor restored like 1.5 Canal of land and 60 Maters of boundary wall of St. Andrew Church at Nabha Road, Lahore. Dr. Nazir Bhatti said that to acquire land of St. Paul Church at Bohar Chowk is desecration of Church which is not acceptable to Christians in Pakistan. “To build stairway for Orange Train Project Station in boundary of Church will create law and order situation for Christian worshipers of St. Paul’s Church during Sunday Services and other religious rituals when Thousands of Muslim passengers will get on get down from train during prayers from premises” said Nazir Bhatti Dr. Nazir Bhatti urged Christian leadership of Lahore to read very carefully Handout of Punjab government to set forth future line of action to safe St. Paul’s Church and St. Andrew’s Church properties. Nazir Bhatti demanded from Chief Minister of Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif to not desecrate St. Paul,s Church and Stair to railway station of Orange Line Train Project may be shifted to Bohar Chowk road instead in Church property.
