RT pledges for unity against hatred, extremism and violence

Lahore: July 1, 2016. (PCP) Pakistani culture is generally riddled with intolerant and extremism mindset which is resulting in the form of bloodshed in the name of religion. This was stated by Chairman Rwadari Tehreek Samson Salamat while addressing an Iftar Reception in the honour people of different faiths and different walks of life. Samson Salamat stressed that the situation calls the attention of all the stake-holders for some concrete measures including a spirit of interfaith harmony and togetherness against all those elements who are spreading hatred through various ways and means and creating turmoil in our society. Chairman Rawadari Thereek further said that "this Iftar especially is being hosted because it is the mission of Rwadari Tehreek to bridge gap between the people of different faiths and other walks of life to express our unity and resistance against the hatred and extremism and violence in the country, which has practically paralyzed our lives and there is an atmosphere of threat and terror". Vicar General of the Cathedral of Raiwind Diocese Rev .Emmanuel Khokhar appreciated the continued efforts of Rwadari Tehreek to introduce a counter narrative in the current situation and for challenging the traders of hate and violence. He said that today's Iftar is a symbol of unity and a message for the people of Pakistan that we have to live together with a policy of peaceful co-existence. President of Rwadari Tehreek Abdullah Malik said that all religions give a message of humanity and peace and Rwadari Tehreek is following those teachings and practically struggling to achieve this nourish goal. Member of Provincial Assembly Sadia Sohail Rana of PTI congratulated the members of Rwadari Tehreek for hosting Iftar Reception and giving a positive message of unity and interfaith harmony. She pledged that she will continue to raise voice in the parliament to demand from the government for practical measures to deal with the hate speech and to end terrorism". A large number of prominent religious, political and social personalities including Rev. Bishop Samuel Azraiah, Mary Gill MPA, Shunila Ruth MPA, Pandit Bhgat Lal Kokhar, Salman Abid Sabira Asmat (President Rwadari Tehreek Punjab), Iftikhar Rasool (President Rwadari Tehreek Lahore), Rizwan Gill Advocate (Vice President of Rwadari Tehreek Lahore), Khamis Chaudhry (General Secretary of Rwadari Tehreek- Lahore), Members of Rwadari Tehreek Core Committee Samuel Pyara, Naseer Ahmed, Zameer Afari, Adu Ram, Naveed Raphael, Humera Kokab participated. On this occasion, the participants of the Iftar observed one minute silence to express solidarity with the families of the victims of Istanbul Terrorist Attacks and strongly condemned the terrorism.
