Peshawar: July 19, 2016. (PCP) The Christian community of Dera Ismail Khan City finds no way to safe historic St. John’s Church from illegal construction instead of continuous pleas to provincial government of KP in Pakistan. Dera Ismail Khan is city in a province KP of Pakistan bordering Afghanistan where St. John Church was built during British Colonial rule in sub-continent of India for Anglican worshipers. After 1970, St John Church fell in lot of Church of Pakistan when Methodists, Anglican and other Protestant Churches decided to form a union in name of “Church of Pakistan” which affiliated with Church of England under Bishop of Canterbury. The loose union of Church of Pakistan when Church in Canterbury in England was busy to resolve gender equality in clergy, the leaders of Church of Pakistan started selling valuable properties of Churches in different cities of Pakistan and fled from Pakistan. St. John’s Church of Dera Ismail Khan is also under Church of Pakistan clergy land mafia who intend to build shopping plaza for vested benefits. One congregate of St. John Church writes to Pakistan Christian Post; “please find attached pictures of construction work on premises of St. John's Church, Dera Ismail Khan, KPK, Pakistan. Diocese of Peshawar Church of Pakistan, has no NOC from the authority, instead they used bogus NOC to get Map/sketch approved from the TMA, which also doesn't accord with The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Protection of Communal Properties of Minorities Act 2014. Their map/sketch was also canceled by TMA for using bogus NOC. In the month of June 2016 TMA warned them 3 times to stop this illegal construction but still it continues, who can stop them. And we are worried what’s going on. They intend to demolish the Church and build commercial shops instead, previously they approved 50 lac from the KPK gov to rebuild this Church, so they said we should demolish it and build hall instead at another place. Their intentions are very clear. We sued them in the court, and again going to sue them in session court. But we need immediate help in this regard. Its ST. John's Church, Dera Ismail Khan, KPK, Pakistan, please sir help us to save this historic Church. All documentary proves are available with me. Please help us. This church was built by British government and it is an historic church” Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC has invited attention of Imran Khan who is chief of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Pakistan PTI which is ruling KP province to stop any illegal construction around St. John Church in Dera Ismail Khan because some Muslim leaders of PTI are involved in it and providing support to Church of Pakistan.
