Karachi: August 11, 2016. (PCP) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC said that August 11, will be never marked as Minority Day as government of Pakistan claims because religious minorities have observed it with protest rallies and conferences throughout country as “Black Day”. Religious minorities of Pakistan again vowed on this day of August 11, 2016, that without due share in resources of state and equal basic democratic rights, Minority Day will never be observed. Government of Pakistan and its tools arrange few gathering with limited participants to hail policies of administration this day of August 11, to propagate that minorities are enjoying equal rights in Islamic Republic of Pakistan. August 11, is landmark day in history of Pakistan when Founder of Pakistan Mohammad Ali Jinnah delivered a speech in which he assured religious minorities that their social, economic, religious and political rights will be fully protected in Pakistan but unfortunately after death of Quaid-e-Azam promises were never fulfilled. The religious minorities are treated like 2nd class citizens in Pakistan and deprived of their share in jobs, education and legislation. The Christians and other religious minorities in Pakistan are bared to elect their representatives with their votes on reserved seats in parliament but Muslim parties Select tools of their choice who speak their master’s voice instead of rights of minorities. The National Minority Commission formed in Pakistan has not invited any public representation after its formation in 2014, which negates true spirit of this forum. Nazir Bhatti demanded government of Pakistan to increase minorities’ representation in parliament proportional to population, Dual Voting right that minority’s voters may elect their leaders, Quota of jobs for Christian youth and Quota of admission in professional institutions and higher education.
