HRFP condemned the incident of Khuhhal Town

Faisalabad: August 29, 2016. (PCP) Human Rights Focus Pakistan (HRFP) condemned the persecution of Christians in Pakistan including the recent incident of mob attack on Christian’s homes and families including men, women and children in Khushhal Town Faisalabad. Naveed Walter president of HRFP , with Emmanuel Masih (Victim), Nadir Shan (victim) , Shamshair Masih ( victim), Laveeza bibi (victim) and Pervaiz Masih (complainant of FIR) addressed at a Press Conference and demanded to give punishment to culprits who still are threatening to victims and families to withdraw the case and leave the area , otherwise they may got historically punishment. The victims shared that they having no any personal conflicts with local Muslims, it’s just a persecution due to their religion and belief. The mob attacked us and with violence, we having problems of health and livelihood. Laveeza bibi and Emmanuel Masih further shared with media that on 19th August the mob attacked, were carrying weapons, iron rods and wooden sticks in their hands. They used derogatory and insulting languages against Christian community and yelled Christians “Come out of Your Houses, We will teach you a lesson”. The culprits entered into their houses, threatened family members and forced them to come out of their houses. Many Christian families to protect their lives immediately left their houses and move to some other places. The people who were unable to run were subjected to extreme form of physical violence. Shamshair Masih and Pervaiz Masih shared the cause of issue, a local resident Adnan Masih while catching his donkey on bike, slightly strike with the brother in law of Umar Hayat alias Mitho Gondal but the conflict arises between them and it came a religious issue fabricated by culprits. After half an hour, the culprits attacked the Christian houses that created fear, threat and terror. Naveed Walter said further that FIR was registered on 24th August after a week delaying by police but it is not a solution , the wounds of victims may filled with medical treatment but the practice of religious discrimination may not be eliminated with this FIR . There should be a strategy of government to change the mind sets of society, to fully eliminate the discriminatory laws & practices from the society the government should have to revise the curriculum and took other initiatives to promote the religious harmony for long term change in attitudes and behaviors, he added more.
