Stop misuse of blasphemy law and targeting the Christians

Karachi: September 29, 2016. (PCP) A Christian Woman Lawyer Jacqueline Sultan Advocate High Court Sindh led a protest against misuse of blasphemy law in Pakistan on 27 September 2016. A Christian teenager 16 has been arrested for liking and sharing a photograph of sacred Islamic building on Facebook. Jacqueline Sultan condemned this extremist act of Muslims against Nabeel Masih a 16 year old boy who has been charged and is currently imprisoned under the blasphemy law in Kasur District for sharing picture of Khana-e-Kaba a Building at the heart of Islam’s most sacred mosque in Mecca Saudi Arabia. The complainant Akhtar Ali claims that he saw the post of Nabeel’s facebook timeline and claimed that the picture had been posted in a “derogatory manner” which would hurt the religious sentiments of Muslims. While Nabeel remain in prison awaiting trial, Christians in the area say that they are fearful of violent reprisals common place. Although there have no reported attacks so far, tensions are high in the region. Nabeel’s family is in currently in hiding while some Christians have fled. Jacqueline Sultan had demanded the government to release this innocent child and provide security to this boy, his family and Christians. Furthermore, she said our struggle will continue against the injustices and atrocities against Christians and other minorities in Pakistan. Hundreds of People participated in the protest and chanted slogan against blasphemy law and government.
