Newcomers tear cultural fabric of Canada. By Dr. Stephen Gill

I have been an unshakable votary and will remain unshakable votary of the beauties flowered by multiculturalism, a bird of peace that dwells in the valley of tolerance. Every valley has limited supplies to sustain the beauty of patience that is the purpose of the letter by Mr. Ralph MacDonald in the Standard-Freeholder of Sept. 22, 2016 in which parents from foreign culture strive to deny the health-giving music to their children in schools, though even their culture has made meaningful contributions to vocal and instrumental music. Canada deserves appreciation for providing newcomers security, free quality education to their children, ample water, fresh air, free medical and freedoms at the cost of Canadian values and tax-payers money. Enlightened coexistence embodies the tolerance that strengthens muscles to manage a nation of diversity. This tolerance is based on the concept of sharing that is vital for building a better future on the campus of learning without walls. I believe that arts are the fundamental products of self -expression. In Greek mythology, Apollo, the god of poetry and music, is included in the category of healing. Music and poetry have the celestial touches of peace, speaking to human souls, providing a therapy for emotional and physical health. Every genre of arts is the higher form of communication and communication is the oxygen of life. Even animals and plants communicate. Healthy music and poetry takes humans to a higher level of communication. Music elevates listeners, affecting the center of emotions in the brain. Certain sounds have power to slow down the rate of the heart and breathing, and can transport listeners into a relaxed state. From time immemorial humans have been writing poetry for chanting at religious rituals. Music therapy is quite old--it is used to strengthen the muscles of health. Musicians, poets, painters, and other artists bring out their feelings, emotions, thoughts, experiences and dreams in their own language. Their languages may differ, but they have the same goal. Artists of different categories use different modes to express what is within that is intangible. The question before the artist is how to bring it out in a tangible form, so that people may read, touch or see it. This needs tools and the proper use of these tools needs training and practice. Schools are the best places to learn these tools. I hope that schools for the sake of the health of children and the future of Canada will make proper decision.
