Session organized on Paralegal Training and role of Christian Youth in Society

Hyderabad: October 5, 2016. (PCP) On 1st Oct 2016 at St. Joseph’s Church Hall Latifabd No. 10 Hyderabad, Society For Human Awareness, Development & Empowerment, SHADE Youth Desk conducted Paralegal Training and the Role of Christian Youth in the Society, 35 young youth members have been trained with basic Civil, Criminal, Family cases, Women bills and Alternate Dispute Resolution procedures so that they can help and support community by providing them basic legal support. Workshop started with prayer and Bible reading, after this young youth and labor leaders presented sindhi ajrak and Cap and flowers to their respected guests Advocate Sooba Bhatti. Mr. Nafees Bhatti Coordinator SHADE-Pak described introduction of SHADE organization and presented main objectives of the training. He said The Role of Christian Youth in the Society is to create Community Paralegal Team that can provide legal counseling as per the community need for long term sustainability. After that Sooba Bhatti In this training, members from the community have been trained on basic laws related to Civil, Criminal, Family Cases and how they can provide assistance to the community related to their legal and domestic problems. Trainers along with the legal expert Lawyer Advocate Sooba Bhatti of the respective area facilitated the community members in the training. Advocate Sooba Bhatti said that state is responsible to dispense the justice to the citizens and it’s the state which provides information to the public regarding the new laws, justice system and others. He said that due to the poor literacy ratio, the people from the remotest areas, especially those of the Sindh province, were still lacking the information and knowledge about the legal systems, existing and new laws at the grass root level. The lack of legal information asymmetry exposes them to a host of exploitation risks at the hands of lawyers, court staff, police, and prosecutors. They are open to victimization by all justice sector agents. Sooba Bhatti further said that in order to facilitate the marginalized people regarding their issues, Paralegals are an effective way to bridge this gap by providing legal information that can assist in conflict resolution since they are local and understand issues much better. Paralegal is a community based person trained with basic knowledge of the law and the legal system. He apprised the objective of the workshop as to enhance the knowledge of youth to understand different methods that can be used in dealing with disputes and legal matters to assist vulnerable and disadvantaged people to assert their rights without necessarily engaging the services of a lawyer or resorting to litigation which may be time consuming and expensive as well., the training specialist said that the trained youth can voluntarily provide their services by resolving local disputes ( Birth certificate) , NADRA, family issues etc) through a variety of means such as negotiation, mediation, arbitration and conciliation etc. During workshop Sooba Bhatti encouraged and appreciated to Nafees Bhatti coordinator SHADE Youth Desk for the arrangement and continues their straggle to encourage the communities to fight for their rights. He should continue his struggle for the community awareness especially for youth. The program concluded by the pray of youth members .at the end Nafees Bhatti thanked all the participants and Advocate Sooba Bhatti.
