Deadliest Quetta attack is call for seriousness in countering extremism and terrorism

Lahore: October 25, 2016. (PCP) Rwadari Tehreek (a social movement for Peaceful Pakistan) has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the loss off precious lives caused in Quetta after the deadliest terrorist attack on Police Training Academy on October 24th, 2016 in which 61 lost their lives while 124 injured according to media reports. A protest was held under the auspices of Rwadari Tehreek in front of Punjab Assembly to condemn the attack and express solidarity with the families of all those who lost their lives. People from different religions and walks of life participated in the protest held by Rwadari Tehreek. Prominent members and Office bearers of Rwadari Tehreek participated including Abdullah Malik (President of Rwadari Tehreek) Asmat Sabira President Rwadari Tehreek Punjab, Komal Patras (Incharge Secretariat Rwadari Tehreek) Rizwan Gill Advocate, Samuel Pyara (Member Core Committee Rwadari Tehreek), Naseer Ahmed (Member of Rwadari Tehreek Core Committee) Shah Fahad (President Rwadari Tehreek Baluchistan), Farman Ali (Rwadari Tehreek KP), Shahzad Bajeer (Rwadari Tehreek Sindh), Rashida Parveen (Rwadari Tehreek Muzafargarh), Roheena Ali Shah (Rwadari Tehreek Skardu). Chairman of Rwadari Tehreek Mr. Samson Salamat on behalf of all the office bearers and members of Rwadari Tehreek condemned the terrorist attack in strongest words and termed it the failure and negligence of the Government and all concerned state machinery that is responsible for the safety and security of the people. Mr. Samson Salamat said that "as always experience by the people of Pakistan merely lip service will not work and it is of utmost importance for the Government and all the stake-holders to wake-up and show zero tolerance towards all those who are killing innocent citizens." Mr. Samson Salamat further added that "the attack on Police Academy Quetta has added to the miseries of the people of Baluchistan and we extend our solidarity with them and ensure that we stand united with the brothers and sisters living in Baluchistan in this time of sorrow and grief". Mr. Abdullah Malik, President of Rwadari Tehreek criticized the government for its inefficiency for implementing the National Action Plan which was made to counter extremism and terrorism and said that " it seems very clear that countering extremism, terrorism is not the priority of the Government, rather it is spending resources and its energies on non-productive matters due to which people are losing their precious lives. Therefore we have serious concerns and reservations on the performance of this government in maintaining law and order and saving the lives of people from the terrorist outfits". Mr. Samuel Pyara member of Rwadari Tehreek Core Committee demanded that a final strict round of action is required to stop operations of the terrorist organizations, the financiers and supporters immediately, otherwise the innocent people will continue to face the consequences". Rwadari Tehreek demanded at this occasion that: the culprits behind the killing of young policemen of the Police Academy should be apprehended without any delay, stern action against terrorists and militant outfits wherever they exist without any recognition of good or bad and their hideouts and training Centers should be targeted. The access of the militant outfits to educational institutions should be checked and banned. The financing of terrorist groups should be checked strictly, a comprehensive border security plan should be formulated to control foreign terrorists. The ban on hate speech should be implemented in letter and spirit and all those found spreading hate speech through print or electronic media or through loudspeakers should be apprehended. The syllabus of the educational institutions needs to be thoroughly checked and the material which spreads hate on religious, sectarian or any other basis should be eliminated from the curriculum. All those laws which are being misused to instigate people for violence in society should be revisited. The government, media, civil society and other stakeholders should initiate awareness campaigns to promote religious tolerance amongst the people, especially among the youth.
