Karachi: November 14, 2016. (PCP) After hearing the news of a married woman who had set herself on fire after being raped on the order of a panchayat in Dhillu Gharbi Village, District Gujrat, Miss Jacqueline Sultan, Advocate and Human Rights Activist phoned DPO Gujrat, who informed her that police have arrested some people and investigation is in under process.
Miss Jacqueline Sultan said that when I hear the news I utterly shocked, rape of woman on the directions of Punchayet absolutely inhuman and barbaric action. The Government must take serious action against the Panchayat for being responsible of causing two deaths and a law must be made to out-law all Panchayats and both father and punchayat should be punished hard for such heinous crime. .
She appealed to High Court of Punjab and Supreme Court of Pakistan to take Suo Moto Action to probe into matter of suicide and both fathers and all members of Punchayat must be jailed and prosecuted for rape and murder charges.
