Karachi: January 5, 2017. (PCP) Christian Lawyer Miss Jacqueline Sultan and Human Rights Activist welcomed the suo moto action by the Chief Justice, Supreme Court of Pakistan of child maid’s alleged torture.
She said as per report the owners of the house would usually lock her up in a storeroom at night besides starving and beating her up. Police has already questioned the judge’ wife but she was not formally charged.
She said it is important that there should be a strict enforcement of Law. She said there should be constant monitoring and every such child who is employed needs to be registered with some authority, government functionaries are to do surprise visit and violations need to be taken seriously and culprits needs to be punished to set an example. She said due to poverty many children are forced to work and how a judge, the protector of the law can employ a 9/10 years old child.
She said state and society must be ready to protect children if parents fail. This case needs to be pursued vigorously till justice is delivered to the young child.
