Karachi: January 13, 2017. (PCP) Christian Lawyer Miss Jacqueline Sultan and Human Rights Activist said space for civil society activists is being diminished by anti state elements who do not want that voice of people to come up and raise the issues. These incidents will not stop happening until Pakistan becomes a genuinely democratic country where the institutions staffed by persons elected by the people hold genuine authority over all forces.
She said as per media report at least four activists known for their liberal views on social media have gone missing in Pakistan last week.
She urges government and civil society both needs to make strategy to strengthen and protect social activists.
Mr. Saleem Khursheed Khokhar Former Member Provincial Assembly Sindh and Ex-Chairman, Standing Committee on Minorities Affairs Sindh Assembly said there is need to improve security because life is not secure in Pakistan especially for journalists, minorities and human rights activists.
