Faisalabad: January 25, 2017. (PCP) Professor Anjum James Paul Chairman of Pakistan Minorities Teachers Association PMTA have requested for Suo Moto against Express TV Channel on desecration and insulting Christianity and Christians in the Comedy Seriel “Baji Irshad”. Professor Paul said “Express TV Channel is hurting the religious sentiments of Christians as there is desecration of religious practices of Christianity and Christians violating article 20, article 25 and article 36 of the Constitution of Pakistan, June 19, 2014 Verdict of the Supreme Court of Pakistan regarding protection of minorities, National Action Plan 2014 and Section 153 A,, Section 295 and Section 295 A of Pakistan Penal Code in the drama serial “ Baji Irshad”.This is a deliberate conspiracy to let down Christianity and Christians. Unfortunately article 19 of the Constitution of Pakistan fails to protect the minority religions of Pakistan that’s why not only the minority religions but also religious minorities are unsafe” “Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) is proactive in many matters. It has banned and fined a number of private satellite TV Channels that have violated its policies but on the other hand it is a bitter reality that no action has been taken against any public or private TV Channel that has desecrated the minority religions of Pakistan and the religious minorities. There is question on the credibility of the Federal Ministry of Human Rights, Federal Ministry of Interfaith Harmony, National Commission on Human Rights, National Commission on Minority Rights, Provincial Ministries of Human Rights & Minority Affairs and so many law enforcing agencies if they all fail to protect the rights of all citizens of Pakistan without any discrimination as guaranteed in Article 25 (1) of the Constitution of Pakistan 1973 “All citizens are equal before law and are entitled to equal protection of law” added professor Anjum Paul Here is open letter of Professor Anjum James Paul to Supreme Court of Pakistan: Ref.No.PMTA/5-8/17-KPR Dated: January 24, 2017 To Chief Justice Supreme Court of Pakistan Islamabad Subject: - REQUEST FOR SUO MOTO AGAINST EXPRESS TV CHANNEL ON DESECRATION AND INSLUTING CHRISTIANITY AND CHRISTIANS IN THE COMEDY DRAMA SERIEL “BAJI IRSHAD”AND THE OTHER MEDIA.
