Karachi: November 29, 2006. Mr. Herbert Fernandes – President of Catholic Association criticizes the proposed Hasba Bill, terming it a conspiracy to impose `Talibanisation` in the North West Frontier Province (NWFP).
Mr. Fernandes stated that `Hasba Bill` is unconstitutional, religious marshal law and parallel to the legal system that will spread anarchy and chaos in the society and thus will deprive the general public of their rights and liberty. This Hasba Bill would strengthen the religious fanatics and extremists in Pakistan who are held bent to capture all democratic institutions.
Mr. Fernandes further stated the Hudood Ordinance is against the universal declaration of Human Rights as the Hudood Ordinances were the Islamic Laws and should not apply to Non- Muslims according to the Constitution of Pakistan.
