Sialkot: December 5, 2006. (SLMP report) Pastor Jacob Rehmat who is Pastor In-charge of Kosar Baraj Parish of Church of Pakistan Sialkot Diocese and wrongfully implicated in false theft case according to investigative report issued by Sharing Life Ministry Pakistan here today. It's also reported that 13 other Church members has been jailed in same fabricated case. The team of Sharing Life Ministry Pakistan visited family of Pastor Jacob at Spal Colony Wazir Abad District Gujranwala. Mrs. Nigahat Jacob told SLMP "I have two children Assa15, daughter and Ashirbaad13, son. My husband is a pastor in-charge of Kosar Baraj Church of Pakistan Tehsil Wazir Abad District Gujranwala. Pastor Jacob was transferred from Church in City Wazir Abad about 6 years prior. Before his transfer pastor Christopher was in charge and Kosar Baraj Church. Pastor Christopher occupied the adjoined pastor house with church while church authorities ordered Pastor Christopher to leave the pastor house so that Pastor Jacob can occupy the same" Mrs. Pastor Jacob told SLMP, "It was not stopped here, Ulfat Bibi wife of Pastor Christopher lodged a First Information Report (FIR) based on false and fabricated story of theft against Pastor Jacob and 14 church members. She narrated in her application that Pastor Jacob along with 14 Church Members including three Pastors came to her house on 14th May 2006 at about 2:00 PM (afternoon) and they have been stolen gold ornaments, fans, clocks, washing machines, sofa sets, sewing machines, Televisions T.V trolley, Camera and many other households. Police registered the case vide FIR No. 169 dated 14.5.2006 offence under section 382/354 (Pakistan Penal Code) with Police Station Sadar Wazir Abad, against 14 people. Three Pastors excluding gave bribe to police and declared innocent in initial investigation. Two of the church members, nominated in FIR released on bail while the rest of church members and Pastor Jacob are still in District Jail Gujranwala." Nigahat wife of Pastor Jacob told SLMP on asking, "We don't have sources to fight the case. I visited Pastor twice till he is in the jail up to now. My children are going to school but now I am concerned about their school fee. I am doing job in Railway Pakistan but my salary is not enough to meet day-to-day needs of family. Pastor Jacob's mother Mumtaz aged 75 years and sister Gulzareen aged 27 years are also living with us. I have to take care of them too" The SLMP fact-finding team concluded that sale of Church property to Muslims by one Pastor is major factor behind this false case and same pastor has implicated Pastor Jacob in theft case to stop him taking charge of the Parish.
