Interfaith Prayer service in commemoration of the victims of Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park, Lahore

Lahore: (Sunil John) An Inter-faith prayer service was organized by National Commission for Inter-religious dialogue and ecumenism (Catholic Bishops’ conference-Pakistan) in commemoration of the victims of Gulshan-Iqbal Park Lahore. A number of religious Leaders from different religions came together to pray and light candles in the memory of 72 innocent people who lost their lives in a bomb blast. Fr. Francis Nadeem OFM Cap; the Custos of Capuchin Community and the executive secretary of the National Commission for Inter-religious dialogue and ecumenism (Catholic Bishops’ conference-Pakistan) expressed his sentiments of sorrow on the occasion of first anniversary of the tragic incident which took place on the Easter Sunday April 27, 2016. On this occasion Fr. Pascal Paulus O.P, the vice provincial of Domnicans in Pakistan also expressed grief and requested the official authorities to provide maximum security measures to innocent people. The teachers and students of St. Mary’s School, Kot Lakhpat were gathered there to pray for Pervaiz Sahil, a student of the said school who died in this blast. His class fellows remembered him in tears and sighs. Fr. Francis Nadeem thanked all the participants and the representatives of the media and while illuminating a candle he wished that such tragedies may not happen again. The following scholars are leaders were present on the occasion: Hafiz Mufti Ashiq Hussain, Moulana Muhammad Asim Makhdoom, Dr. Allama Badar Munir, Moulana Asghar Chishti, Fr. Javed KashifOFM Cap, Rev. Emmanuel Khokher, Rev. I.B. Rocky, Pervaiz Akhtar, Shakil Francis and Sunil John.
