Priest urges Youth for a life of prayer, holiness

Karachi: April 1, 2017. (By Ayyaz Gulzar) Jesus Youth Pakistan (JYP) in collaboration with Catholic Youth Commission Karachi (CYCK) Lenten recollection entitled “Holy Hearts” on March 23, 2017. After the Opening prayer and the vibrant Praise and Worship, Fr. Noman Arif, Spiritual Director of JYP Karachi led the Young Catholics for his first session “Holy Hearts”. He helped Youth to look into their lives and focus on the weaknesses they have that are taking them away from holiness. Sharing Saints life and his personal life examples in addition to his presentation, He also prepared Youth for Sacrament of reconciliation before the Holy Mass. Fr. Mario Rodrigues, director CYCK and Fr. Noman Arif sat for penitential service during recollection day. Fr. Noman Arif celebrated the Mass. During his Homily He urged the attendees to focus to be Holy because our body is temple of God and the Holy Spirit. And we have to love it, respect it and take good care of it. We are on a journey towards holiness, for this we have to keep on moving in a life of prayer, He added. In the second half of the day, Fr. Noman after giving a brief input on Seven Capital sins i.e. Anger, greed, gluttony, pride, envy, lust and sloth. He divided attendees into groups to discuss about the capital sins and reflect on the ones they feel they are holding into their lives and how these sins are affecting their lives. After the group discussion, group leaders shared the views of the group members. The recollection day ended with Adoration lead by Jesus Youth Pakistan team. In closing remarks Mr. Daniel Bashir, Youth Coordinator JYP thanked Fr. Mario Rodrigues and CYCK, Little Flower Nursery administration and staff for providing facilities, Parish Priests and Pastoral teams of various parishes for sending youth for recollection day. He also thanked Fr. Noman Arif for wonderfully taking care of the spiritual needs of the youth throughout the day. 68 young Catholics from various parishes of Archdiocese of Karachi marked their presence.
