Karachi: April 19, 2017. (PCP) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC in a statement issued here today by Central Secretariat of PCC has said that imposition of Joint Electorate was conspiracy against 20 million Pakistani Christians to hijack their vote bank by Muslim political parties. Through Joint Electorate system Muslim political parties select Christians, Hindus, Sikhs and other minority communities’ individuals of their choice on reserved seats for minorities in Parliament of Pakistan while before 2000, religious minorities were electing capable representatives by their votes on these reserved seats. It is surprising that Muslim religious parties like Jamaat Islami JI and Jamiat Ulma-e-Islam JUI are now attractive for opportunist’s minorities’ members when these religious parties have no program for socio-political uplift on minorities. Theses religious parties of Muslim have been opposing any legislation to end misuse of blasphemy law but some so-called Christian religious leaders are appearing on stages of JUI and JI and praising their role for minorities. Pakistan Peoples Party PPP, Pakistan Muslim League PML (N) and (Q), MQM, PTI, JI, JUI (F) and other Muslim political parties under 18th Amendment in constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan approved Separate Electorate, devolution of Federal Minorities Ministry and declaring religious minorities to be Non-Muslims to damage their identity and to hijack their vote bank. Dr. Nazir Bhatti said that due to Joint Electorate conspiracy there is no voice of minorities on floor of house which is very dangerous for integrity and solidarity of state. PCC urged Christian religious leaders and NGO workers who are receiving huge foreign funding to concentrate of project of social welfare of Christians instead of forming political groups and delivering speeches on stages of Muslim political groups because it is damaging unity of Christians. Nazir Bhatti said “Pakistan Christian Congress PCC will keep demanding Dual Voting system that Christian, Hindus may elect their representatives with their votes” “PCC will soon announce nationwide protest to achieve voting right for Christians and other religious minorities” added Nazir Bhatti
