Interfaith Workshop for Peace Ambassadors

Lahore: May 2, 2017. (PCP) A capacity building workshop with “Child Ambassadors of Peace”, was organized by Council for Interfaith Dialogue (CFID) in association with National Commission for Inter-religious Dialogue and Ecumenism (NCIDE) under the guidance of His Grace Archbishop Sebastian Francis Shaw. This workshop has been planned to conduct with young children from different schools being run by Capuchin Community in Lahore, Pakistan. The Child Ambassadors of Peace is an initiative of Council for Interfaith Dialogue (CFID), under the leadership of Fr. Francis Nadeem OFM, Cap. To prepare young generation to lead the nation with new vision of peace and harmony. In the beginning of the programme, Ms. Kyoko SHIMIZU from Asian Health Institute (AHI), Japan was warmly welcomed by welcoming songs, peace tableau and speeches on peace building by young talented students. Ng Child Peace Ambassadors sash. The newly selected 35 children from different schools were awarded by Ms. Kyoko Shimizu, Mr. Hector Nihal, and Teachers of the schools. Later , Mr. Hector Nihal, the workshop trainer and Ms. Kyoko Shimizu facilitated the capacity building workshop with Child Ambassadors of Peace on the topic; “Understanding of Peace & Tolerance Concepts . With the help of brainstorming and group dynamic exercises the facilitator helped the participants to understand the meaning, purpose and impact of peace, conflict and tolerance, in our daily life, on our personality, and families. The participants were asked why only they have been selected at Ambassadors of Peace, and what are the actions and activities that they can do to be good ambassadors of Peace in their schools, homes and society. The students presented different actions points that highlighted their role as ambassadors of peace. The capacity building workshop was a very effective tool to help them to play their positive role in building and promotion of peace and tolerance in the society. Their commitment for peace building will help them to review their values, behaviors and attitudes that build and destroy the process of peace and harmony. Therefore it is very important for the society, if they want a social change in the society, they need to focus on young people and help them to build their human values that promote peace and harmony. With this process 6 schools, teachers and their management is involved to prepared future generation as peace builders and peace promoters in Pakistani society.
