Police raids Christian colony beating children and women after scuffle with youth on cricket

Gujrat: June 16, 2017. (PCP) As Champion Trophy fever grips Pakistan, the Kharian Police disturbed Cricket friendly match among Christian youth in Father Colony in garrison city Kharian in District Gujrat of Punjab province of Pakistan accusing them of betting on Trophy matches to extort money. The Christian youth cricket players denied blames of police on which three police officials led by ASI Mohammad Azeem attacked Christian players and tried to make arrest. The Christian players retaliated and scuffled with police. When police team saw that Christian players and match watchers are in large numbers they fled from scene threatening consequences. In evening, SHO Tanver Abbas Bhatti, ASI Mohammad Azeem came with contingent of police and broke doors of Christians residents of Father Colony beating women, men and children and arresting who came in way. Fathers Colony is residential area of Christians only where hundreds of homes belong to them from decades. The most of Christian residents work in cantonment area of Kharian. The Christians of Father Colony urged Chief Minister of Punjab to take action against Guliana Police Station office and unwanted raid and torture of children and women. The DRO Gujrat took notice after illegal raids and torture was reported in local press and suspended SHO and ASI of Guliana Police Station of Kharian.
