Negligence in implementing NAP again brought wave of terrorism in the country: Rwadari Tehreek

Lahore: July 1, 2017. (PCP) Rwadari Tehreek and Civil Society Network in collaboration with other civil society organizations held a protest at the Mall Road of Lahore on July 1, 2017 in solidarity with the victims of terrorism at Parachinar, Quetta, Karachi and other incidents of terrorism and to demand the seriousness of the federal, and the provincial government and other stake-holders in countering extremism and terrorism. The peaceful protestors who belonged to different religions, and walks of life chanted slogans against hate speech, religious intolerance, extremism and terrorism in the name of religion and pledged to continue to raise their voice until the stern and effective actions are not taken according to the National Action Plan to stop this menace. In the beginning of his address at the occasion Chairman Rwadari Tehreek Mr. Samson Salamat firstly expressed solidarity with the victims of recent terrorist attacks in Parachinar, Quetta and Karachi offered condolences with their families. Mr. Samson Salamat demanded that “immediately a high-level stake-holders meeting should be called upon to evaluate the implementation of the National Action Plan and the findings of the meeting should shared and discussed with the Senate, National and Provincial Assemblies and be made public. The nation should be informed about the elements which are a hindrance in the Implementation of National Action Plan and why the banned terrorist outfits are still operating and are being able to do their terrorist activities”. Mr. Samson Salamat further demanded that an indiscriminate action against the terrorists, their masterminds, facilitators, financiers and their supporters who are killing the innocent people and spreading terror to weaken our nation and the country. Mr. Abdullah Malik, President of Civil Society Network said that overall the whole country but Parachinar has been under attack continuously but it is very unfortunate and is negligence of the Government and the responsible institution who has not been able to take concrete measures and as a result innocent citizens are becoming target of the terrorists. Mr. Abdullah Malik further added that it is very sad to note that neither the Prime Minister nor the interior minister or any other highest level Federal Government Representative visited the Parachinar victims and the protesting crowed which was on a sit-in for almost a week which reflects the priorities of our top leadership”. At this occasion Mr. Abdullah Malik demanded that “in order to counter the current situation the ban on hate speech should be implemented in letter and spirit and all those found in spreading hate speech through print or electronic media or through loud speakers or any other means should be apprehended and the syllabus of the educational institutions should also be thoroughly checked and the material which spreads hatred on religious, sectarian or any other basis should be eliminated from the curriculum. Many prominent political, religious and social personalities were present at this occasion including Syed Waqar Hussain Naqvi, Pastor Shahid Miraj, Imtiaz Alam, Samuel Pyara and Dr. Fauzia Saeed.
