(PCP) Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress PCC have said in a statement that to celebrate August 11 as Minority Day by Government of Pakistan, Pakistan Peoples Party PPP and other selected Christian and Hindu parliamentarian by Muslim political parties is mockery with minorities communities in general and with 20 million Pakistani Christians because they have been treated as second class citizens in Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
“It is historic fact that founder of Pakistan Mr. Jinnah delivered speech on August 11, 1947, in which he declared Pakistan to be home of communities of every religion with equal rights but Pakistan Establishment have changed ideology of Pakistan to be home of Muslims only which have damaged ideology of Pakistan laid down by Quaid-e-Azam” said PCC Chief
Dr. Nazir Bhatti said that it is no more Pakistan of Mohammad Ali Jinnah and to mark his speech of August 11, 1947, is mockery with minorities.
Dr. Bhatti added that Pakistani minorities are denied representation in parliament proportional to their population which have cause silence on floor of house on their due equal basic democratic rights.
“life and property of minorities are not safe in Pakistan while their women are kidnapped, gangraped, forcedly converted to Islam to marry Muslims and courts never ensure justice” added Nazir Bhatti
PCC said in such circumstances the celebration of Minority Day is mockery and to give impression to International Forums that Christians are enjoy equal rights in Pakistan.
Nazir Bhatti demanded Dual voting rights and due share in resources of state for 20 million Pakistani Christians.
