Quetta: December 17, 2017. (PCP) Two suicide bombers along with two other religious extremist terrorists in a board day light on a busy traffic running road in Quetta entered in Church by jumping over gate and martyred 9 Christians worshipers and injured over 50.
The CCTV released by different media outlets show that not a single security personal or police officer is seen on closed main gate of Bethhel Memorial Methodist Church on Zargoon Road Quetta where more than 400 Christian worshipers were gathered for Sunday Services in wake of Christmas feast celebrations.
According to Reuters news agency, Police guards stationed at the church entrance and on its roof killed one of the bombers but the second attacker detonated his explosives-filled vest outside its prayer hall just after Sunday services began in Quetta, capital of Baluchistan province, said Sarfraz Bugti, the provincial home minister.
Baluchistan police chief Moazzam Jah said there were nearly 400 worshippers in the church for the pre-Christmas service. The death toll could have been much higher if the gunmen had forced their way into the sanctuary, he said.
Jah said the venue - Bethel Memorial Methodist Church - was on high alert as Christian places of worship are often targeted by Islamist extremists over the Christmas season.
“We killed one of them, and the other one exploded himself after police wounded him,” he said.
Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, President of Pakistan Christian Congress in a statement issued here today, strongly condemned terrorist attack on Church in Quetta and expressed concern on security of Christians in Pakistan who are easy prey of Muslim extremists’ groups.
“Pakistan fails to protect Christians and other religious minorities in and ensure justice towards them” added Nazir Bhatti
PCC Chief said that Pakistan establishment have openly launched different extremists in Balochstan province to perform social uplift projects and to encounter Baloch freedom fighter and such outfits have been targeting Shia, Christian and Hindus in this province.
Nazir Bhatti said “Pakistan should immediately stop supporting such religious extremist groups for safety and security of innocent citizens”
He also demanded adequate security to Christians in every city of Pakistan during Christmas religious rituals.
