PASBAN supports lone Christian candidate in Interior Sindh

HYDERABAD: July 18, 2018. (By Abbas Kassar) Christian Community has fielded only candidate on PS 65 Latifabad, district Hyderabad. He is Suleman Noor Alam who has asked people of constituency to vote for him without discrimination of religion and caste as he has assured to serve all and raise voice of poor working class and marginalized people in Assembly if elected. The Pasban Pakistan (related to Jamat Islami) has supported Suleman Noor Alam the only Christian in whole interior Sindh. Press release issued by Pakistan states that its regional president Arshad Arain, Manzoor Ahmed and Anwar Bhatti were carrying election campaign for Christian chandidat by visiting house to house to convince voters to vote for Suleman Noor. Pasban has criticized main political parties of failing to filed minority candidates. Pasban leaders said these political parties have done nothing for minorities except empty slogans. Meanwhile aders of Christian community Younis Gill, Nazir Masih, John Gill, Waris Sadiq and others have said that political parties sidelined Christians and other minorities by not issuing tickets to them and instead they are selected on minority seats. They said minorities have been demanding since long that they want election and not selection but no government in Pakistan has accepted their demand. Nazir Masih told this scribe on phone that there were more than 20,000 minority voters in PS 65 Latifabad and hoped that many among majority would also vote for their candidate as social media has created a lot of awareness among people. They also told that they were being threatened to withdraw their candidate but they were not afraid of such threats. They appealed to Muslim voters of PS 65 to vote for young and educated Christian candidate Suleman Noor.
