Christian Prisoners and Pastors are facing Persecution in Prisons

Lahore: May 1, 2019. (PCP) Rev. Maurice Shahbaz, Director of Prisons Mission Society in a press release have that Christian prisoners have lost their religious freedom and facing persecution inside Prisons Punjab, Pakistan. The jail authorities have banned their religious education and religious remission. They have not any opportunity to improve their education under rule 215 of the Pakistan Prison Rule (Jail Manual).

The Muslim religious teachers of Trust Jamait Taleem-ul-Quaran (including the Muslim religious teaches of jails staff) and such other organizations can preach and teach without any problem and they have accorded permission to work in the prisons of Punjab for religious education of prisoners.

Inside the Punjab Prisons, The Christian under trail prisoners are forced to labor of sweeping otherwise they will be thrown in to the torture cells or they are forced to give (Fateek) monthly bribe to the jail staff.

Rev. Shahbaz have said Permission should be granted to the Christian Teachers and Pastors to visit jails for Christian prisoners that they can teach  religious education for  religious education remission to the Christian prisoners that they can improve their education under rule 215 of the Pakistan Prison Rule (Jail Manual) and  Under articles 37 and 38 constitution of  Islamic Republic of Pakistan 1973,it is the policy of the state to eradicate illiteracy from the country). And Liberal permission to prisoners to appear in examinations. To stop the forced labor of under trail prisoners and (Fateek) monthly bribe.
