Bishop Kaleem asks Christians to pray elimination of Coronavirus during fasting

HYDERABAD: (By Abbas Kassar) Bishop Kaleem John Christian leader of Diocese of Hyderabad Church of Pakistan has urged upon Christian community to pray elimination of deadly disease coronavirus which has spread from China and has been spreading across whole world. Addressing a big gathering of Christians at Diocese of Hyderabad Church of Pakistan he said in almost all religions of world, believers follow commandments of fasting.

 Likewise, in Christianity there was fasting for 40 days from 25th February Wednesday (except Sundays) and at end of 40 days fasting they celebrate Eid(festival) of second life of Jesus Christ. He said fasting in Christianity is spread on 24 hours from one evening to another.

He said in today’s world men with power and money have turned selfish with no feelings for others. They have been voided of spirit of tolerance and forgiveness. However, he said process of fasting provide us with lesson of concentration, sympathy, mercy and humanity. He said to help others in time of trial, pain and calamity is part of human service. Fasting in Christianity gives us lessons of spirituality and showers us with blessings of God.
