HRFP’s Pandemic Awareness & Assistance Campaign

Faisalabad: Human Rights Focus Pakistan (HRFP) campaigned for Corona’s (COVID-19) Pandemic Awareness & Assistance through coordinating and supporting to the target groups who are still not aware but directly involve in cleanings and sanitations without any precautionary measures and hygiene equipments.

HRFP campaign’s target groups are the most marginalized, disadvantaged and ignored groups of SewerMen’s , Sanitary Workers and Domestic Workers to aware them about Corona Virus (COVID-19), potential hazards and safe guarding by selves. HRFP’s staff and volunteers are visiting in person, communicating and sensitizing them by speaking, through IEC material and providing assistance of hand soaps, face masks, sanitizers, gloves, sprays and livelihood.

HRFP’s campaigners telling them also about symptoms if they found in their bodies and how to adopt the urgent prevention measures which the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended in case of cough, fever and breathing problems. HRFP sensitizing them for Washing hands regularly for 20 seconds, with soap and water or alcohol-based hand rub, Covering nose and mouth with a disposable tissue or flexed elbow when they cough or sneeze, to Avoid close contact (1 meter or 3 feet) with people who are unwell, to Stay home and self-isolate from others in the household if they feel unwell and to Don't touch the eyes, nose, or mouth if their hands are not clean.

Naveed Walter president of Human Rights Focus Pakistan (HRFP) said that the distastes and emergencies like COVID -19 always result in significant impacts on health, in deaths and psychological problems on vulnerable more for longer so the government should adopt right-based approach through equally treating to every individual and group in combating pandemic. The Sewer Men, Sanitary workers  and Domestic Workers mostly belonging to minorities are on highly risks during performing duties but less-privileged in protection and relief while the Pakistan is on higher ranks of affected countries in actual rather than the government’s statistics and the disease is spreading rapidly, he added more.

The HRFP campaign’s coordinators; Baniyamin for Sewer Men’s , Shadman for Sanitary Workers and Nadeem for Domestic Workers announced that the trainings and learning activities in collaboration with different institutions by developing specific training modules to tackle such pandemic diseases in coming futures is also a long term strategy , they added.
