Waheed Masih acquitted from the life imprisonment and death sentence

Lahore: (By Katherine Sapna) CTS cheerfully inform, Waheed Masih alias Muna, a resident of Safdarabad district Sheikhupra, was wrongfully accused of the crimes listed in Sections 365-B, 376(2), 109, 426 of the criminal code procedure. A case FIR 181/18 was filed against him in the police station Safdarabad, Sheikhupura.

 

Since 2018, Whaeed Masih was booked for imprisonment, after the court trial he got sentence for the Life as well as Death Sentence (both capital punishments of the Pakistan Penal Code) in the year 2020. The learned court passed the Judgment, showing a biased attitude against religious minorities and convicted Waheed Masih whereas there was no witness to prove him guilty.

 

In the year 2020, after conviction Waheed Masih’s family including Nasreen Bbi (mother), Alishbha Bibi (wife) and Naveed Masih (brother) approached Christians' True Spirit – CTS in Lahore and reported the case. They requested CTS for the legal assistance for the possible release of the convicted.

 

Within the due time of seven days the legal team of CTS filed an appeal no.67026/20 against conviction of Waheed Masih and kept reminding the court through different applications for the quick and early hearing on the case appeal.

 

The case appeal was fixed in the High Court Lahore for time to time and re-scheduled for next hearing after the court left over. On September 13, 2023, the case appeal was again fixed for hearing in the court of Mr. Justice Shakeel Ahmad, Judge High Court Lahore, CTS leag team including Mr. Nadeem Hassan, Mr. Qaisar John and Mr. Haroon Ranjha, advocate High Court has been engaged in lengthy arguments and convinced the court that Waheed Masih alias Muna was an innocent.

 

The Judge was convinced after hearing the persuasive arguments and evidence from the CTS attorneys and acquitted Waheed Masih alias Muna from the all charges of sections 365-B, 376(2), 109, 426 of the criminal procedure.
