Arrest Made in Suleman Masih Murder Case: LEAD Ministries Express Hope for Justice. report by Advocate Sardar Mushtaq Gill
Lahore: A major breakthrough in the tragic murder case of Suleman Masih, a Christian man brutally killed in January 2025, was made when Pakistani authorities apprehended one of the key suspects, Abdul Rehman, attempting to flee the country. Rehman, a prominent figure believed to be involved in the crime, was arrested at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore while attempting to escape to Muscat using a fake and forged passport.
Suleman Masih's death shocked not only his family but the entire Christian community, sparking widespread outrage and calls for accountability. His murder, which remains a point of intense public scrutiny, led to numerous protests, with many demanding that the perpetrators be swiftly brought to justice.
Pastor Imran Amanat, a leader from LEAD Ministries Pakistan, expressed relief upon hearing of Abdul Rehman's arrest, highlighting the importance of this development for the family of the victim and the broader community. In a conversation with Iqbal Masih, the father of the late Suleman Masih, Pastor Amanat conveyed a message of hope and a renewed sense of determination for justice.
"This arrest is a critical step towards ensuring that those responsible for this horrific crime, including Abdul Rehman, will face the full consequences of their actions. It is an important moment, not just for the family of Suleman, but for the Christian community at large," Sardar Mushtaq Gill said. "LEAD Ministries Pakistan is committed to supporting the family through this difficult time, and we will continue to advocate for justice until the full truth is revealed."
Abdul Rehman is currently under police custody at a police station in Gujranwala, where he is being held as investigations continue. Authorities have reassured the public that they are actively working to bring all those involved in the crime to justice. The arrest of Abdul Rehman, attempting to flee under a false identity, represents a significant move toward closure for the grieving family and the Christian community, who have long awaited answers regarding Suleman Masih’s untimely death.
As investigations continue, LEAD Ministries and other human rights organizations remain vigilant, calling on the government to ensure that every individual implicated in this crime is held accountable and that justice is fully served.
The arrest has provided some hope to those who have long fought for justice in the case of Suleman Masih, yet many questions remain. The community and authorities alike are committed to bringing clarity and resolution to this tragedy, with a strong focus on securing the peace and dignity of the Christian community in Pakistan.
