LEAD Ministries Condemns Sydney Attack, Calls for Global Action Against Violence-Based Religious Extremist Indoctrination. Report by Sardar Mushtaq Gill
Pakistan: LEAD Ministries has strongly condemned the terrorist attack at Bondi Beach during the first day of Hanukkah, which reportedly left multiple people dead or injured. The alleged attacker was reportedly killed at the scene.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families,” said Sardar Mushtaq Gill, founder of LEAD Ministries.
Gill emphasized the dangers of religious texts being misinterpreted or selectively used to justify hatred, violence, or dehumanization against people of other faiths. “Any teaching that promotes aggression or domination must be addressed responsibly,” he said. He also highlighted that individuals who incite others to harm or dominate people—even within minority communities—must be identified and held accountable.
Highlighting the importance of equality and justice, Gill endorsed the principle of one law for all, stressing that no religion-based laws should apply differently to individuals. He further encouraged migrants and newcomers to respect the laws, customs, and cultural practices of the communities where they settle—whether in Western countries or in Middle Eastern nations such as the UAE and Saudi Arabia—as a way to foster social harmony and mutual understanding. While noting that these countries maintain strict security measures and social regulations, he emphasized that newcomers should integrate respectfully into local norms. He added that while individuals are free to practice their faith, they should avoid seeking special legal privileges that could provide commercial or personal advantages.
LEAD Ministries called on policymakers, educators, and religious leaders worldwide to ensure that sacred texts are interpreted in ways that promote peace, ethical behavior, and mutual respect, while upholding freedom of belief and the rule of law.
Gill concluded with a call for global leaders to actively reject all forms of extremism, hatred, violence, and faith-based division, and to promote understanding, compassion, and coexistence among all communities.
