Bahawalpur Shooting
By : Ayesha Khan
Dear Editor,
I am a Pakistani and a Muslim. I am writing to your newspaper to condole the tragic and brutal deaths in Bahawalpur by evil gunmen. As both a Pakistani and a Muslim, I am very sorry for their behaviour and for the loss of innocent lives.
It is shameful and unforgivable.I hope the government makes every effort to bring these brutal assailants to justice.I hope also that one day we can clean our society of these radical fringe elements and that everyone in Pakistan is safe.
It is my firm belief and that of many other Pakistani Muslims that the Christians in Pakistan are an integral part of our social fabric and that their life and liberty should be honoured and protected. Jinnah intended a secular Pakistan.
We must make every effort to follow in his footsteps and educate our people to think of each other as Pakistanis first--one people--rather than look to religion, which should only be a personal matter.
Sincerely,
