Lahore: June 27, 2008. (Khadijah Shah reports for PCP) Pakistan June 26th: Noted Islamic intellectuals and leaders have powerfully condemned the Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani and PPP government for commuting of death sentence into life imprisonm

calling the decision as an un-Islamic and expected at satisfying the Western and European Countries. In a joint statement issued on Wednesday, 25th June, by renowned scholars of all schools of consideration, they foreshadow that the genuine intention of the act was to commute death sentence for blasphemers under 295-C PPC which had been a long and pressing demand of the West. These scholars unambiguously affirmed that any ruler or parliament had no powers to withdraw the death punishment in esteem of crimes stated in the Holy Quran and Sunnah. In case of murder, only the heirs of the victims have the right to excuse, they added. The declaration was issued by president Ittehad Tanzimat Madaris Deenia Maulana Saleemullah Khan, Tanzimul Madaris president Mufti Muneebur Rehman, Wafaqul Madaris president Qari Hanif Jalundhary, president Wafaqul Madaris Salfia Maulana Naeemur Rehman, Wafaqul Madaris Shal president Maulana Niaz Hussain Naqvi, president Rabitul Madaris Maulana Abdul Maalik, Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan ameer Qazi Hussain Ahmad, president Mutahida Ullema Council Maulana Abdur Rauf Malik, Maulana Khursheed Gangohi, Jamia Naeemia principal Dr. Mufti Sarfaraz Naeemi, Ameer Khatm-e-Nabuwwat Conference Maulana Ilyas Chinnoti, president Ittchadul Ullema Maulana Inayyatulah Gujrati and Asadullah Bhutto. They demanded from the government immediately withdraw the leniency summary sent to the president for endorsement. They maintained that the death punishment was granted on the crimes like murder, robbery, to married adulterer (male/female) and to the person who committed blasphemy. Even the traitor is subjected to death punishment in Islam. “No one is empowered to pardon these capital punishments,” they warned. The Islamic scholars and political management repented that the seducers were ruthlessly killing the Muslims across the world. The Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani desires to ensign Western civilization in the cultural norms of Pakistan, declared Qazi Hussain Ahmad. No Prime Minister, no President, Judges or parliament has the authority to confer relaxations to stern decisions like these. The rulers are incapable to inquire about bombardment and harass inside Pakistani areas which is distressing the lives of their own subjects while on the other hand they are more concerned about remising those who disregarded humanity by committing disreputable crimes. They further said that PM, by announcing the commutation of death punishments, had exposed himself and his party that they did not believe in keeping Pakistan an Islamic state and wanted to turn it secular by altering the Quraanic restrictions. The sacrifices which our forefathers gave in the construction of Pakistan, they just formulate their labors inadequate. If such a person of anomalous conceptions becomes the Prime Minister of our nation, then it is undeniably depressing but very dangerous as well for the suggested policies of the country. Pakistan is an Islamic country. But the authorities of our nation our impressed by the glamor of the Foreign countries, that are restriction less. They just want to depend upon the Western countries. They want to make development through making money and wealth. So what if the poor people are suffering, or the innocents are insecure, or the blood shed comes in daily routine. If such criminals will be saved from the sentence of death then it surely will give encouragement to the criminals and they can do whatever they like without having fear of death. Such decisions should not be encouraged as they can scatter our religious conceptions and we are unable to enjoy the peace of mind.
