Christians have reservations on inclusion of “Indirect elections for minorities” in charge sheet to impeach President Musharraf by coalition government. Nazir Bhatti

Philadelphia: August 10, 2008. Dr. Nazir S Bhatti, Founder President of Pakistan Christian Congress said that Shahbaz Bhatti and his All Pakistan Minorities Alliance on intimation of Pakistan Peoples Party demanded Joint Election system or Indirect E
in their frequent meetings with President Parvez Musharraf in Islamabad and stabbed in back of Christians who were enjoying Separate Electorate. Therefore, to include abolishment of Separate Electorate in charge sheet to impeach President Musharraf by PPP led government is not fair nor a fact.
Nazir Bhatti said “Bishops Conference of Pakistan, Justice and Peace Commission, Shahbaz Bhatti of All Pakistan Minorities Alliance and Caritas in Pakistan propagated against Separate Electorate on national and international forums to block direct representation of common Christian by directed election not President Musharraf”
“President Musharraf only accepted demand of these Christians who played with fate of Christians by Indirect Elections” added Bhatti
Pakistan Peoples Party had Joint Election System for minorities mean Indirect Election in menifesto, which was propagated by its Christian tools.
The coalition partners in government, PPP, PML (N), JUI (F) and ANP never raised voice against Joint Elections in national general elections of 2002 and 2008 but bagged Christian votes and added their numbers in parliament by selection of their minority tools through Indirect Elections for which President Musharraf is blamed now.
Nazir Bhatti said “Christians are impartial in this impeachment game because who are impeaching President Musharraf were facing criminal charges in courts of Pakistan and entered in political arena under NRO”
“Shahbaz Bhatti is selected member by PPP and his statements to support impeach Musharraf by coalition government can not be index of common Pakistani Christian” Said Nazir Bhatti
Nazir Bhatti urged coalition government of PPP, PML (N), JUI (F) and ANP to not blame Musharraf on Indirect Election for minorities but to exclude Joint Electorate from their manifestos.
“If coalition partners think that President Musharraf is responsible for Indirect Elections and shall be charged under it also in impeachment, they must come forward and announce to exclude selected minority parliamentarians from member counts on resolution”
