local workers during a welcome procession of Provincial Minister of Punjab for Minorities’ Affairs and Human Rights, Kamran Michael. This lamentable show down took place at Chak (village) # 91 Southern Branch (SB) Sargodha, on the evening of Nov 30th. PCP learnt through New Satellite Town (NST) police sources. They were immediately taken to the Divisional Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) Sargodha and admitted there for the indispensable medical treatment. In an exclusive interview bed ridden Mushtaq Gill told PCP that on Nov 30th he and his other Christian fellows Yasser Masih and Asif Masih were preparing to give a warm welcome to the Punjab’s provincial minister for minorities’ affairs and human rights Kamran Michael at the outskirts of Sargodha. Injured Christian politician Gill further described the tragic episode in frail voice that suddenly two vehicles, one of them with registration # LN- 1222 appeared and tried to crush them. Gill added in a painful tone that from the cars came out PML-N’s local activists identified as Yousaf Gill, Younis, Zia-ul-Haq, Asif, Qaiser and an unknown assailant. Mushtaq Gill went on saying that all the PML-N workers brandished iron rods in the air and they started thrashing him (to Gill) and his other Christian companions Yasser and Asif Masih in a barbarian way. To a query Gill replied that due to the ruthless attack he and his fellows fell on the ground and all of them received critical wounds. Gill further apprised PCP that the attack left his left leg fractured and he also got serious injuries to his forehead. He also alleged that PML-N worker Asif snatched his cell phone worth Pak Rs 7000/- (US $ 90/- approx) and sunglasses worth Pak Rs 4000/- (US $ 51/- approx). He also said that doctors have decided to keep him under observation for whole month at the DHQ Hospital Sargodha. Replying to another question about the injuries of his fellows, Mushtaq Gill said that Yasser Masih received serious injuries to his chest and Asif Masih sustained hand bones’ fracture. Mushtaq Gill went on saying that after hearing our hues and cries for help, Christian men identified as Ayub Gill and Ijaz Peter approached to rescue us from vindictive PML-N activists and pleaded before them to have pity on us and finally redeemed us from their brutality. NST Police Chief said “We have arrested assailants and lodged a First Information Report (FIR) # 922/2008 under articles 337/A-2, 337/F-3 and 148/149 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and investigating the matter”.. Investigating Officer of the case Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Dilber Hussain said we have sent a request to the Chief Chemical Examiner (CCE) of Punjab to verify the medical reports of the local doctors and as soon as we receive positive response from CCE we would be able to produce the report as a proof before the local court. To a query ASI Dilber Hussain said that during the past elections the plaintiff and the defendant were against each other and this ordeal appears to be result of that election rivalry. During this visit PCP was accompanied by Ferhan Mazher Chairman of a rights organization ‘Rays of Development Organization’ (ROD) and his team members Adnan Saeed, Adil Naseem, Nadeem Samuel and Imran Mazher. After the visit Ferhan Mazher condemned the cruel attack on a Christian political leader. Mr. Kamran Michael the provincial minister of Punjab for Minorities’ Affairs & Human Rights also sternly condemned assail on Christian Politician saying that the assaulters had actually fractured his left leg. He pledged to provide full support to the injured Gill by all means
