and Mr. Babar Khokhar, President of PCC Chapter of USA has expressed grief on death of Bishop Anthony Theodore Lobo, Catholic Bishop of Rawalpindi/Islamabad Diocese. Bishop Anthony Lobo passed away in city of Rawalpindi on February 18, 2013, at age of 76 years after brief illness, leaving behind thousands of mourners and followers. Bishop Anthony Theodore LOBO was born in 1937 and ordained as priest in 1961 while Consecrated Bishop in 1982 He served as auxiliary Bishop of Karachi from 1982 to 1993.He became Bishop of Islamabad–Rawalpindi in 1993 and retired from it in 2010. Bishop Anthony Lobo has made a unique contribution to the course of education in the country. After a distinguished academic career at the Universities of Karachi, Harvard and Paris he decided to devote his entire life to improve the quality of education in Pakistan. At a very young age he was appointed the Principal of St. Lawrence’s Boys School, Karachi and later took charge of one of the oldest and most prestigious schools in Karachi “St. Patricks High School” and in November 1986 founded St. Michael’s Convent School. He was the author of many books including learned work in education. In recognition of his meritorious services to the cause of literature and education, the President of Pakistan conferred “The President’s “Pride of Performance” Award in 1990. As Bishop Lobo has been appointed the ” Bishop of Rawalpindi -Islamabad” due to which he was currently residing in Rawalpindi , and visitsing St. Michael’s Convent School quite frequently. The Bishop Lobo has also served as Chairman, Education Commission Of Pakistan, Secretary General, Catholic Bishop Conference Of Pakistan, Chairman, Office Of Education, Federation Of Asian Bishop’s Conference, Member Of Senate, Sindh University, Khairpur and Member Of Senate, Shah Abdul Latif University, Jamshoro. PCC Leader Mr. Anthony Naveed paid homage to services of Bishop Anthony Lobo and termed his death as great loss to Catholic Christian community of Pakistan.
