Self-exiled Baloch Republican Army (BRA) leader Brahumdagh Bugti has agreed to hold talks with the government on the Balochistan issue, hinting at the possibility of withdrawing demands of separation. In his recent interview with BBC, Brahamdagh said if Baloch people are willing, he may step back from his demand of independent Balochistan for his people. “We are ready if he wants to meet us as we are politicians who seek political solutions to issues”. The government of Balochistan has welcomed Bugti’s fence-mending icebreaker. In the past Brahamdagh had been rejecting the option of dialogues and view point was that the struggle would continue till the independence of Balochistan. “Balochistan has been frozen in time for the last 15 years”. He also stated that the negotiating environment must be conducive. “If they asked, we would give them the agenda, which would be approved by the majority of our people”. After the Jamhoori Watan Party split, Bugti became the leader of his own faction, which he later renamed as BRP. “All estranged Baloch leaders, including Brahamdagh Bugti will be welcomed in the negotiation process…” “It has been our stance from the day one that Balochistan issue has to be resolved in a political manner”, he said.
