Lahore. January 18. The Executive Secretary, Methodist church of Pakistan, Mr. Jamshed John has expressed his thanks on the prayers of Christians around the world on registration of Methodist church of Pakistan with the government of Pakistan. He sai

In a press release issued today he added " We take opportunity on behalf of "The Methodist Church of Pakistan" to express our heartiest congratulations on the eve of "New Year-2003". Let us mention that the "Methodist Church of Pakistan" has declared this year the year of its rehabilitation. We have got our registration renewed after more or less 30 years. The way this religious organization kept on working in the past is now being modified the newer & healthier way. For the same reason, we need some God-fearing and generous individuals & organizations, both social and religious, to come forward to pray for us & give us a helping hand to establish ourselves as a flourishing congregation for the sake of God's Word". Issuing the future preferences of Methodist Church of Pakistan Mr. John said, "We would take opportunity to mention that we have also got some tasks pending due to lack of resources. Our main emphasis is on the improvement of life standard amongst the downtrodden sections of the community". The new field of work announced by MCP was the. " Bible at Home" The task includes Door-to-Door Bible Teaching especially for children and that too in a vernacular style. The teachings of Bible should be taught in a comprehensible manner. "Education for All" Education is the fundamental faculty through which one may learn to understand things effectively. There is a very thin average of the educated people, that is why the need to educate others is first & the fore-most need of the hour. "Have-nots have now" The poverty-stricken area of the society requires the first-hand attention of others. There has not been taken any positive step to eradicate poverty from the roots. Efforts to put poverty-stricken and disadvantaged folk on the focus is the cardinal priority of "The Methodist Church of Pakistan". Through its main network programme, it would put all efforts to diminish the sense of helplessness among the forgotten sections of society. "Women's Development Programme" There are a nominal number of women who can be called self-supported. Most of the women are forced to work at places and levels either below their dignity or for the sake of "others" only. This makes their sense of freedom hurt. Women having large families to support have to carry out work of any slum or start working for the sake of survival. Our main network has designed a programme to create and enhance a sense of liberty among the women belonging particularly to the forsaken folks.
