New York. January 27. Pakistan Christian congress chief Mr. Nazir S Bhatti said that to pay homage to the sacrifice of martyr Feroze Masih, PCC shall announce medals and awards for Christians for their services in education, social work, politics, bu

He hailed the courage and commitment of Feroze Masih and said that he is Hero of Pakistani Christian nation and future generations shall never forget him because he is among those who laid down his life on street for the basic democratic rights of Christians of Pakistan. Police firing during peaceful protest procession against Muslim fundamentalists attacks on Christian village Shanti Nagar in Punjab province on February 13, 1997, at Karachi, martyred Feroze Masih. He was not a politician but his heart was full of love for his poor Christian community. In this rally under PCC, more than 25,000 youth participated and more than 1,000 youth was arrested by police. Police bullets injured three protestors also when hundreds were suffered by the teargas shelling and baton charged by the Karachi Police. Among the arrested 700 were youths under 15 years of age which were released on personal bonds from the seven police stations of Karachi and 382 youths are still facing charges under section 144, 146, 147 and others while Majid Zia and Chowrdy Boota were charged under section 144, 146, 147, 301 and 298 PPC. Mr. Bhatti said that Martyr Feroze Masih Foundation shall be founded to hold this award distribution ceremony and Christian leaders from Pakistan, Holland, Norway, UK, Canada and USA shall be among the Board of Governors of the Foundation. Mr. Nazir Bhatti said that special wards shall be given to Majid Zia and Ch. Boota on facing long imprisonment on arrest from the February 13, 1997 PCC peaceful procession at Karachi when Feroze Masih was Martyred. PCC chief also announced the PCC councils shall organize prayers for Martyr Feroze Masih in different cities of Pakistan. Mr. Bhatti urged the government to arrest the police officials on the discriminatory firing on the PCC procession on February 13, 1997 who are still at large and murder charges are pending on killing Feroze Masih against Karachi police.
