OKARA, July 18:(DAWN) Various Christian organizations from across the Punjab province and minority MPAs have expressed their dissatisfaction over the investigation into the murder case of Father George Ibrahim.

Around 3,000 Christians, including minority MPAs Pervaiz Rafique, Naveed Amir and Najmi Saleemi, gathered on Friday at Central Church in Mitchells Fruit Farms, Renala Khurd. Speaking on the occasion, the minority MPAs said the Punjab IGP during his visit to Okara had assured the arrest of killers within 48 hours but so far no progress had been made in this respect. Despite the fact that we had nominated a former school principal in the murder case, they said the police did not investigate her either. The minority MPAs said that they would table a motion regarding the murder of Father Ibrahim in the next session of the Punjab Assembly. The protest gathering was also addressed by PPP (P) MPA Muhammad Ashraf Sohna on the special instructions of party chairperson Benazir Bhutto. PML (Q) MNA Syed Gulzar Sibtain Shah, Faisalabad Bishop Joseph Kotes, Father Nadeem (Lahore), Samuel Qamar (Gojra), Father Rehmat (Rawalpindi) and others also spoke on the occasion. They announced that the next protest gathering would be held on July 20 in Rawalpindi.
