Three other Christian employees of the hotel have left the job under fright and fear after Raja's death. According to his father Chuni Lal "Raja was working as sweeper in a big hotel situated on Thandi Sarak Hyderabad. On September 4,2003 I was informed on phone from hotel that my son Rja has received some injuries and I was asked to go to hotel and take him to hospital. Two stopped me Guards whom after speaking with each other in Pushto allowed me to meet one employee of hotel Shahid. In the meantime I saw my son Raja with whole body burnt. The clothes he was wearing were not his. I took my son to Bhitai Hospital Latifabad and then to Liaquat Medical University Hospital (civil hospital) Hyderabad but on directors advise we took him to Karachi where he Expired 4 days later. His uncle Dr.Chand Babu told that no one from the hotel came to visit him in hospital. He said some of his co-workers have said Raja was subjected to torture. He said the hotel guard gave them Rs 300 saying that this amount was taken from shirt of Raja. Chand Babu questioned when Raja was burnt from head to stomach and his clothes also burnt how the notes of Rs 300 were safe. His uncle said that there was some talk of theft of some currency from the room of a customer. The minority councilor of the area Zafar Lal alias Marshal told that family of Raja was taken frightened and police has not registered FIR but has only mentioned the incident in its September 4 Roznamcha because the opposite party is more influential. The hotel manager Shahid refused to tell any thing by saying that he will not inform any thing without permission of hotel owner. The Munshi of GOR police station said that ASI Rehan had recorded the statement of Raja who has said that he was heating up the curry in kitchen when he caught Fire. Dr.Chand Babu expressed surprise that Raja was sweeper in the hotel how could he use the kitchen as it was not his function. Then there was lot of employees in kitchen so it was lie that Raja was heating the curry in kitchen. He also said when the ASI had taken his statement he was under fear and duress. He could have not given the statement of his own. He had told police what he was told to say. He said as they were poor people they could not fight case against the influential owner of hotel. The people of Christian community who visited the house of Raja in Christian colony advised his father to remain quite. It was also learnt that three Christian employees of the hotel have left job under fear and perhaps under threats of not telling true story about the death of Raja. The hotel manager Shahid when contacted to confirm it did not tell anything. His way of reply appeared as if he was also frightened. It was known that an officer from International Health Organization was staying in a room of hotel. He had complained to hotel management that his amount of dollar 1000 was missing form the room. Raja and other employees were interrogated for during which he was subjected to torture to confess the theft.
