ISLAMABAD, (Pakistan Christian Post): Pakistan which has so far seen relatively restrained and measured response in the wake of publication of blasphemous drawings of the Prophet Muhammad may witness a series of protest rallies and seminars as National consultative meeting titled "Tahaffuz Namoos-i-Risalat" (protection of the Prophet Muhammad's reverence) called for country wide strike on March 3. Representatives of religious and political parties from across the country attended the conference on February 11. The conference alleged that western countries, Denmark and the Netherlands in particular, had launched an anti-Islam war at the instance of Zionist lobby and the US imperialism. Referring to last year's alleged desecration of Quran by US soldiers in Guantanamo Bay prison the participants of the conference said the incident had hurt the sentiments of the Muslims across the world, alleging that since then the West had been engaged in a drive to present Islam in poor light and malign the Prophet Muhammad. The conference held at the residence of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal MP Mian Mohammad Aslam in Islamabad unanimously demanded that the government should recall its envoys from those countries, which had published the satirical cartoons and send their envoys back. It also urged the government to seek assurance from the European countries whose newspapers published blasphemous material that they would punish those responsible for the sacrilegious act and would not allow their repeat. The conference also called for convening of emergency meeting of Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) saying it should announce boycott of products and snap trade and cultural relations with the European countries involved in the publishing of controversia lcaricatures of the Prophet Muhammad. Hosted by Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) president Qazi Hussain Ahmed, the conference was attended among others by PML president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, PML-N chairman Raja Zafarul Haq, PML secretary-general Mushahid Hussain, JUI-F deputy chief Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Jamiat Ahle Hadith chief Prof Sajid Mir, Jamaat Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed, Ittehad Tanzeemat Madaris-i-Deeniah leader Dr Sarfraz. It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan Peoples Party and Imran Khan led Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf refrained from attending the conference.
