Christians of Shanti Nagar are still the main target of the Muslim militants After the incident of Feb. 6, 1997 when Muslim extremists attacked this Christian village in Punjab, burning homes and desecrating churches

The recent act of terror and harassment confirms the doubts of Pakistani Christians that Muslim militant groups plan to break violence before the Christmas Eve. After 28 Oct. 2001, the church carnage by militants killing 16 christian worshipers in Bahawalpur, the miles away from Shanti Nagger, the feelings of insecurity among christian nation in pakistan became at high peaks. The Christian village named Shanty Nagger is encircled by Muslim villages and Muslim community do not like to have Christians their own agriculture land, which is the major issue of hate for Christians in this vicinity. The terrorist has damaged the canal used by Christian peasants to ruin their crops at 5:00 am and Govt. agencies and agriculture officials ignored the reports to fill in the canal banks to secure the Christian fields. The 60 feet long and 25 Feet deep the Christians and district administration reached on spot after 9 hours repaired breakage in canal bank on self-help. The incidents of night firing toward Christians from Muslim villages were also reported frequently before this terror act of destroying Christian's agricultural lands to flood by canal water. Due to fear of life and property the Christians have been watching day and night in groups as volunteers to avoid the incidents like 1997.
