the participants vehemently condemned the highhandedness going on against the Christian Community residing in Gordon College Rawalpindi at the hands of some Provincial Muslim Leagui Ministers headed by Muhammad Basharat Raja the Law Minister of Punjab. The speakers told the high officials that the open piece of land between the Bungalows of Prof Yousaf Jalil and Prof Munawar Shafqat along with College Road had been lying vacant since the very beginning. No Principal of Pre-Nationalized or Post-Nationalized period had ever thought of raising any kind of construction over here. We donot understand why the present Principal instead of completing the incomplete Sethi Block that also with the approval and consent of the Court and the Mission has chosen this place for new illegal construction. We are convinced that the Govt. of Punjab instigated by the Principal Gordon College under the support, sponsorship and patronage of some Provincial Muslim Leagui Ministers has hatched a conspiracy to capture and confiscate Church Property worth billions of Rupees adjacent to College Road now called Plaza Road for vested interests. Prof Salamat Akhtar in his Presidential Address told the Christian Leaders that unlawful construction on Church Property in Gordon College was the height of injustice towards the Christians and a black spot on the fair name of the Muslim League Govt due to the following reasons. 1: The Case entitled Sialkot Mission Vs Govt of Punjab has been decreed in favour of the Mission number of times by the District and Superior Courts . 2: Mr. Abdur Rehman Awan Senior Civil Judge Rawalpindi has cancelled Mutation No 8250 Dated 02-09-1982 and decreed the case in favour of the Mission on 02-04-2004. 3: The Unlawful construction is a flagrant violation of the Status Quo Order issued by Hakeem Syed Akhtar Irshad District Judge Rawalpindi on 07-02-1989. 4: Any kind of construction on the Church Property Housing Gordon College without the consent and permission of the Mission is Un-Quranic,Un-Constitutional and Unlawful. 5: The Un-Authorised construction is a death warrant of the poor Christian famlies residing around the Tennis Courts for generations . 6: No doubt the Govt has gone in appeal against the Historic Decision of Mr Abdur Rehman Awan but the Govt has no right, title or interest what so ever to change the nature of Tennis Courts during the pendency of the case, because the Government has not become the owner of the property in of Gordon College. 7: The allocation of a project worth Rs 50 Lakhs by Muhammad Basharat Raja the Law Minister of Punjab to materialise the evil designs and cunning conspiracy of Principal Gordon College Rawalpindi is a direct intervention in a Civil Suit /Court Case, a flagrant violation of the Status Quo Order Dated 07-02-1989 by District Judge Rawalpindi, the trampling of the basic rights of the Christian Community and damaging the trust the Christians have in the Muslim League Govt and Muhammad Basharat Raja. The Christian Leaders passed a resolution to defend the Church Property at all costs.They pledged to stage a Dharna and Fast Till Death in front of the Parliament House Islamabad if nothing was done to save the Church Property by the Government of Pakistan .
