“Worst of Bonded Labor†Bashir Masih kidnapped and tortured by a sports factory owner in Sialkot.
Bashir Masih writes to Pakistan Christian Post from Sialkot; The story of worst bonded labor in his own words:
I, Babir Masih resident of Lal Kurti, Sialkot, Pakistan working as football material cutter in Messer Umar Sardar factory in Sialkot Pakistan sports goods exporters.
I am working since last three years on salary of Rs. 3500. In month of May 2006, I requested to owner of factory to increase my salary. He did not notice of my request but I repeated my demand again. At last I told him to do work on contract and he again refused. I was sick of working on same salary since three years. I have two children and it was very difficult for me to patronize them in so less income because of these reasons I leave that Job.
On 24, May 2006, when I was at home. Owner of Umer Sarder Mian Abdul Kareem came to my house at lal kutrti with some ghunda elements in cars and took me away on gunpoint. They have beaten me harshly in unknown place in one basement for many days. One day some policemen came there and they took me into Haji Puara Police Station Sialkot city. In this police station they tortured me as much they can and inspector of that station Khalid Cheema abused me and said that you are rouge Christian. I will teach you a lesson that you will rember forever. My life is under threat and my family had fled to un-known place due to fear of that factory owner Mian Abdul Kareem & his ghunda & police force. I got rid of that place by intervention of some gentle guys of the city but now again Main Abdul Kareem owner of m/s Umer Sarder threatening me by police that I may be killed in Police encounter.
Kindly, save my life from rich man and bonded slavery. He has already many labor workers who are working like slaves. Please, help me to live life on earth of almighty God with honor and dignity and save my life and save my children to go to orphanage. I hope for favorable response by Human Right Commission of Pakistan.
