Washington DC: January 2, 2011. (PCP) Two key Baloch organizations in the USA have buried their hatchet to work on issues of common interest to Balochistan in the backdrop of the worsening human rights situation there.
The American Friends of Balochistan which reposes its trust in the three main resistance leaders Hyrbyair Marri, Brahumdagh Bugti and Dr. Allah Nazar and the Baloch Society of North America, which represents the De Jure Ruler of Balochistan, Khan of Kalat Mir Suleman Daud, have agreed that the situation in Balochistan demands unity in action in spite of differences in political perceptions.
Wahid Baloch, founder of the Baloch Society of North America, was one of the first activists to raise the issue of Balochistan in the USA in 2005, while the American Friends of Balochistan was formed in the wake of the killing of former Balochistan governor and chief minister of Balochistan Nawab Akbar Bugti and has actively tried to raise awareness about Balochistan through activism, conferences and writings.
Malik Baloch, presiding council member of the American Friends of Balochistan, said, "Baloch have got extremely powerful enemies in the form of Islamabad and Teheran. We urge all stakeholders to sit together before it is too late."
Wahid Baloch, who met U.S. Vice President Joe Biden some months ago to apprise him of the situation in Balochistan, said, "It is high time that we should bury all our personal differences or at least set them aside for now for the greater interest of Balochistan."
Hyrbyair Marri and the Khan of Kalat Suleman Daud are both in the United Kingdom and have vowed that they want their homeland free. The two did many joint activities in 2009, but were not seen together at any event during 2010.
